Whilst most of the broken in babies are enjoying a well earned rest in the paddock over the cooler months its time to bring the new babies in to start breaking in. Alfie and Chandy are the last 2 3 year olds that will have another 2 weeks work before joining Bella and Bonnie, the other 3 year olds on a spell. Alfie and Chandy are due to appear at jump club tomorrow and the Mid Year Champs at SSJC along with big brother Veuve before all having a rest. Due to Kitara Lodge being almost full we are having to break in the 2 girls first (Bronte and Bristol), then swap over and get stuck into the 2 boys (Boston and Beau).
Bronte and Bristol are proving to follow their siblings footsteps being very laid back and showing great enthusiasm towards their work and are due to have a rider on their back in 1-2 weeks after being totally cool with a bridle, roller and lunging work already established.
On another note, Evie Buller has left for the QLD showjumping run with her 3 horses- we wish her luck and will see her back in August, meanwhile we welcome another young showjump rider, James Arkins, to Kitara Lodge with his team of horses. James will be basing out of Kitara Lodge for a few months until he finds a suitable property to purchase.
Peggy (our foal from last season) has now been through the weaning process, all going well and she is happy to co-operate as part of the 'big kids' as opposed to being a baby. She will join her fellow siblings out in the big spelling paddock once we are confident we can catch her in a big paddock!
until next time...
