1st September

Whilst the Australian WEG team members have been annouced, we have some news about a new team member to Kitara Lodge.

Ari De Gwaihir is a 16.2hh Anglo arab gelding who has had a very successful eventing career with amongst some top riders including WEG team members Chris Burton, Stuart Tinney and Olympic medallist Shane Rose. Kitara Lodge has purchased Ari from Charlotte Mavris, his owner since Ari was just 18 months old for Dom to pursue her career and step up to the next level. To aim for the European Championships and London 2012 for Finland. Ari is very experianced and recently ran 7th at Adelaide 4**** and won many 3*** events througout his career.

Ari is a beautiful horse with striking markings and Dom is very excited to get him out and about. Ari will be aimed at a start at Goulburn CIC in October.

30th August

After a great turn out at Sydney International 3DE, unfortunatlely we were home a day early from the competition. All started out well with Chops doing a good dressage test in the CCI** competition, running 4th in the field of 21 horse and rider combinations, however come Cross country day, Dom had some major steering issues which meant one too many runouts on the track resulting in elimination. All the big fences which you would think would make a horse back up and have a look wasnt the problem, but with no steering the combinations and technical questions were just impossible to do. Time for a bit change! Chops will run in the CIC*** at Canberra and we hope to have a better result there.

The CCI** class was won by the big, black TB gelding 'Fox Hill' ridden by Keira Byrnes.

Kitara Lodge has also donated, in support of the Australian WEG team some great auction items for the 'Cantering towards Kentucky' fundraiser evening on Friday.

Theses include a 'money cannot buy' outing on the Super Maxi 'YuuZoo' aswell as a service to KL stallion, 'Budweiser'. It should be a great evening and KL wishes the WEG team the best of luck.

20th August

KL is having a younstock reduction sale. We have been breeding some very fancy young horses and while Dom is hoping to travel overseas next year we have decided to have a stud reduction sale of young horses. These are rising 1 year olds up to riding 4 year olds...a great oppertunity to purchase and unspoilt, purpose breed young horse to turn into your next superstar. 29th July

We are pleased to welcome Daniel and Paul Biancardi and their new horse Sun Tzu purchased from Event rider Tim Boland, to Kitara Lodge.

Like Margaux, Daniel is keen to join the KL team for some jump clubs and shows.

27th July

Harry has been sold to Margaux Mansour from Pymble. He will continue to be a resident at Kitara Lodge which is great!

We wish Margaux and Harry well and Margaux assures us her and Harry will be making regular trips with the KL team to jump clubs and shows.

July

see for sale page for new horses for sale...

We took a team of horses to SSJC training day and all the horses jumped super.

Harry jumped 2 great rounds in the 1.10m class, Scout jumped 2 clear rounds at 70cm, Bud went out for the first time this year to jump a clear round in the 1.20m class and jumped around again in the 1.20m with just 1 down. Chops jumped around the 1.20m clear. Due to being a bit fresh he jumped around again, this time with 1 down. Chops also did a super round with just 1 down in the 1.30m class.

Ice has been sold to a great home in Wagga. Ice will be out eventing and doing some dressage competitions aswell.

June

We have just returned from a long trip to Melbourne 3 day event - always such a well run event and the horses were great.

Ice did a lovely test to run 8th after the dressage phase in a HUGE class of 63 riders in the CCI* class. Chops followed to put in another great test for the team in 11th place in a class of over 40 riders in the CCI**.

The cross country day has been the most successful for Dom to date with both horses jumping amazingly around the tough enough course and under time on both to move Ice into 4th place and Chops into 3rd after the cross country phase.

Both horses trotted up perfectly on Monday and with the announcement of the withdrawel of Shane Rose's stallion who was 2nd in the CCI** class, Chops moved into 2nd place going into the Showjumping phase.

Unfortunately showjumping not being Ice's best phase, a dissapointing 5 rails dropped him well out of the placings.

Chops did however jump great and although having 3 rails, 2 being Dom's mistakes they still finished a credible 7th place in a big, competative class and of such great international level.

Upon this event Dom has decided to put Ice on the market for a Dressage or lower level eventing home as this would be more his forte. Ice's details will be uploaded, but if anyone is looking for a great dressage horse or a very competative eventer up to1* you can view you tube videos and photos by emailing dom@kitaralodge.com

Chops will now be moving up to 3*** level with a start in the CIC at SIEC end of July.

May

Due to website being down we have missed out on updating on our news column.

Ice has been competing well at 1* level and will comepte at melbourne CCI in June and Chops had been running in the 2** classes with a recent 3rd at Berrima. Chops will also be competing at Melbourne in the CCI** then both horses will be aiming to step up a level.

The foals are due to be weaned with Scout then returning to work. Piper has been in work and going very nicely on the flat and will be starting to jump under saddle during the next few weeks.

22nd Febuary-

Siec always seem to be so busy when the midweek and weekend event is on and my schedule looked busy aswell until Chops unfortunately bruised his heel the week before the event, resulting in a scratching from the 1* class, meanwhile Ice and Gwyn competed in the midweek with Ice finihsing 2nd in the Pre Novice class and Gwyn 7th in the prelim, both horses jumping clear XC and clear SJ.

Unfortunately walking back from the XC on Gwyn she got a fright and slipped on the bitumen falling on her rigth hock and the injury she sustained from that fall meant a scratching on the weekend event. So i was down to 1 horse (Ice) in the 1* on the weekend which made for a very cruisy event. With 31 degree heat i wasnt complaining on my 1 ride for the weekend. Ice was fantastic! Running 8th after dressage he made the XC course look and feel easy going clear and 12 seconds under to climb up tp 4th place, and showjumped amazing only an hour after XC on a very hot day to have just the last rail down to finish in 5th place behind Chris Burton, Shane Rose, Hamish Cargilll and Sam Lyle. Ice felt the best he has ever felt and has begun his season in great form!

next event is Tonimbuk CIC in 2 weeks time...

7th February-

WET, WET and more WET! While Sydney is getting wetter by the hour, our grass is growing by the hour...

The 3 eventers went to do a schooling round at Camden's Cross Country course and all were super. Ice and Chops cantered around with no problems and Gwyn was a little spooky around the 1st course, but quickly remembered what cross country was all about and blitzed around the second time very confident and happy to even have a jump over some of the larger fences.

Next event - NRC showjumping on the 14th Feb

24th January-

While our new website is under construction our current website is having problems! In the meantime a few things have happened here at KL.

2 of our 4 Budweiser foals were assessed by the ACE group at Revelwood Warmblood Stud. Our 2 boys made us proud, at only 2 and 4 weeks old, while the 2 fillies were too young, Bristol just born that day.

Boston scored an 80.5% for conformation, 78% for movement and an overall score of 79.25% which earnt him a premium foal for 2010.

Beau scored a 79% for conformation, 73.5% for movement and an overall score of 76.25%.

The 3 Eventer are now back in work with Ice and Chops making regular trips to Tim Boland's new aquaciser which is really helping with their fitness without the strenous concussion work. Meanwhile we are awaiting the side barriers to be put onto the ramp for the aquaciser before we attempt to take Gwyn, i have a strong feeling she will try and leap into the middle (as she does at a water jump)!

The 2 showjumpers are also slowly returning from their break and Beth managing those 2 horses back into work.

Events start back up now with the 3 eventers going to do Camden XC for training on Sunday 31st followed by a jump club on the 7th Feb, along with Harry, and Beth will be taking her horse Floyd out for his first outing.

Followed then by SIEC Midweek and Weekend mid Febuary.

17th January-

On the 14th January our last foal was born. A stunning filly foal by Budweiser out of

Scout. Scout is a mare by Monoduke out of a TB mare. Monoduke is by Monopol. ‘Bristol’ is a leggy filly, chestnut of course and has a very pretty head. She is sure to be a stunning mare

8th January-

Our 2rd foal has been born. Belle beat Scout in to having her foal first, almost 2 weeks

before her due date, however, again, another perfect foal. This time we got a filly.  Much taller than the other 2 foals, with a stunning head and friendly nature to match. She is a full sister to Kitara Bon Jouet (Bonnie).

28th December-

Our 2nd foal has been born. Exactly on her due date, Moggy had a very cute chestnut

colt with a front and back sock and a nice big star. Being born on a very chilly and wet night, the colt is doing extremely well and appreciates being brought into a dry stable for his first day.

Our next mare due is Scout, who we expect will have a beautiful foal by Budweiser. She is due on the 10th January.

18th December-

Our first foal has been born. 'Boston' is on the smaller side, being born 2 weeks premature, but is perfect. A lovely bay colt by Budweiser out of Beautiful Doll. Our next foal is due on the 28th and due to the warm weather they seem to be coming early.

17th January-

On the 14th January our last foal was born. A stunning filly foal by Budweiser out of Scout. Scout is a mare by Monoduke out of a TB mare. Monoduke is by Monopol. ‘Bristol’ is a leggy filly, chestnut of course and has a very pretty head. She is sure to be a stunning mare.
